The feline iconography of Chiribiquete is recurrent. It is evident that the figure of the jaguar evoked, for the earliest inhabitants of the continent, a force and a special meaning. Its ability to hunt on land, in the trees, and in the water established it as Lord and Master of the Animals and as a spiritual protector, which granted it the mythical role of embodying the forces of fertility. Furthermore, as noted in the myths, from the very beginning it represents duality: light–darkness, life–death.”
